PourRichard’s Symposium was a Philadelphia area group devoted to the discussion of ideas, the art of conversation, and the enjoyment of wine.

PourRichards was inspired by a similar group Ben Franklin started in Philadelphia, which later became the American Philosophical Society.  We borrowed the name Poor Richard from Franklin’s almanac, spelling “pour” with a “u” in honor of those members who are enthusiasts of wine.

The name “symposium” is a nod to Plato, who in the text of that name, combined lively discussion about large ideas with food and drink.

For eight years, through dozens of gatherings, PourRichards Symposium brought together leaders from different fields to enter into a dialogue about ideas.

PRS was founded in early 2009 by Scott Lockledge and Mike Kane and came to an end in early 2017.
